 Beauty best seller

Apparently Boots’ Aqueous Cream has become an overnight best seller as the credit crunch sends people reaching for cheaper beauty essentials. Boots have revealed that some stores are having trouble keeping up with demand, ordering 10-12 tubs a day just to keep it on the shelves. Starting at £3.99, it’s clearly budget-friendly and you can hardly question its versatility - the cream can be used as a moisturiser, shaving cream, shower gel and even on chapped and dry lips… There’s just something so unglamorous about it - but, hey, who are we to argue with the wants of the masses?

 Gwyneth and the LBD

In today’s GOOP newsletter (sent to the lucky few to have registered on Gwyneth Paltrow’s new lifestyle/advice website), the Oscar-winning actress imparts top tips on how to wear that ever faithful classic - the little black dress. The newsletter even comes complete with pictures of Gwyneth revealing different ways of wearing… yes, you’ve guessed it… a little black dress! See above for our fave two looks. And, in case you’re itching to know what she says about the LBD, here’s a tasty morsel: “Personally, I like to stick to the classics in both my everyday life and in the evening. Whether I am going to meet friends for dinner, a cocktail party or a bigger event, the most classic of classics, the little black dress, never fails me. It could be Zara, it could be Balenciaga, but a well-cut, well-proportioned black dress has gotten me through many a fashion crisis.” … Right oh! We’ll keep you posted on more of her fashion ‘pearls of wisdom’ as they come…

 Calling all sleeping beauties

How about this for the ultimate sleep experience? No it’s not an art installation, it’s a bed. And according to its makers, LOMME (which stands for Light Over Matter Mind Evolution) is a ’sleep and rejuvenation environment’.  Kate Winslet and Vanity Fair in fur debacle

And here’s the lovely Kate Winslet posing seductively in Agent Provocateur stockings, YSL heels and an £11,500 fox fur throw. But according to press reports, the 33-year-old apparently only agreed to pose with the fur on the belief that it was fake. Animal rights campaigners have since spotted tell-tale signs that the fur is, in fact, real, and Vanity Fair have been forced to make an apology since our dear Kate is very much against wearing fur. A representative for the magazine says: “Although there were both real and fake furs on set, the fur used in the photograph is real. We thought Miss Winslet was aware of this and we’re sorry for the miscommunication.”

 Comme des Garcons at H&M

Here at StyleJunkee we’re mega excited about the forthcoming launch of H&M’s Comme des Garcons collection. The Japanese label is usually known for kooky cuts and shapes, but they’ve obviously tamed things down a little for the high street, and the outcome is totally wearable. Featuring clothing for men, women and children, as well as accessories and a unisex fragrance, fashionista can expect elaborate tailoring, knits and fitted shirts. Oh… and actress Katie Holmes has already been pictured wearing key pieces, so, if A-list approval is what you’re after, look no further. Prices from £14.99, available at H&M from Thursday 13 November.
